settings for Mac

Can someone with a Mac (hopefully running Lion) tell me how their settings are, um, set... so they can seed and upload?
I don't want to get banned, but I can't seem to become un-firewalled.
I'm using Tomato Torrent.

Re: settings for Mac

Sorry, I'm not chiming in to help. I am looking for the same help. I haven't been able to port forward properly since Leopard. Maybe someone can chime in.

Re: settings for Mac

Make sure you only have 1 router. Sometimes the box the Cable/DSL company puts in is also a router and many times people also will install an Airport router or Lynksys or Netgear etc.
Check to be sure you only have one Router.
Make sure your Firewall in the "Security Control Panel" in "System Preferences" is OFF

Then go to here. Read the fine print for links to good instructions. If still stuck write back with make of router etc.

Re: settings for Mac

Back a while a go I had a router/modem that has a dmz. Basically you could set a specific ip address to not be firewalled. Then when I wanted to seed I just switched it to that. Not the safest but its not like i leave it like that all the time.

Do really need to spend $30 for portforward?
my router is AT&T, 2wire, 2701HG-B, and I need port 6881 open.

I would highly recommend you do some reading at http://portforward.com/
I am on a macintosh using OSX Lion and a Dlink router a fixed my firewalled problem after a few tries. You need to find the port your torrent uses, listed on this website, and open that port on your router all the instructions are there on http://portforward.com/ you will see ads for software solutions ignore them and read on to do it for free.
